Former Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations (UN) Dr Ali Naseer was appointed Multilateral Secretary by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry's spokesperson revealed that Dr Naseer was awarded the position following the completion of his mission as Permanent Representative on May 3.

The Multilateral Secretary is accompanying Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid during the ongoing official visit to China.
The doctorate holder in diplomatic studies joined Foreign Service in 1985.
He was replaced by Thilmeeza Hussain to fill the post of permanent representative to the UN as well as the Maldivian ambassador to Canada.
