Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People's National Congress (PNC) coalition candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured to uphold just governance.
Dr. Muizzu has made the statement in response to the main accusation made against him by his opponents.
Supporters of Dr. Muizzu's opponent, incumbent President and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, allege that Dr. Muizzu will revert the country back to an era of injustice similar to his PPM predecessor, former President Abdulla Yameen.
In response, Dr. Muizzu stated that he was the one contending for the presidency, suggesting that he was not directly influenced by anyone.
"I have contended for presidency, and I have been telling how I will lead the country. We will not tolerate injustice and taking revenge," Dr. Muizzu assured.
The opposition coalition's candidate promised peace and tranquility for the Maldives if elected for presidency on the runoff polls this Saturday, September 30.
He promised to treat fairly and justly towards everyone.
"That is our policy, and we will not uphold anything else before said policy. I am a man of my words. I put my word into action," he added.
"I will never resort to injustice and I will not grant anyone the chance for it as well."
Dr. Muizzu further promised he will not imprison political dissidents nor would he jail anyone for political motivations.
He also pledged to lead by example and provide a prosperous future for the Maldives.
