Bank of Maldives (BML) has introduced Maldives' first Shariah compliant Visa credit card.
BML Islamic Visa credit card is offered on the concept of charging an agreed fee in exchange for providing services to customers, or 'Ujrah'.
The card, which can be used for local and foreign transactions, comes in Classic, Gold, Platinum and Signature.
All cards are equipped with modern security features.
"As part of our commitment to enhancing the Islamic banking experience for our customers, we are delighted to add Visa to our Shari’ah compliant credit card portfolio. By combining the global reach of Visa with our Islamic banking principles, we aim to provide a unique and secure option for customers who seek ethical banking solutions," Hassan Kalaam, Director of BML Islamic Banking stated.
Customers who hold Shariah compliant Visa credit cards can alo register with BML's Rewards program, which grants points for every purchase made through the card, which can then be redeemed in the booking flights, hotels, or purchasing vouchers with local and international merchants.
