A man who has been previously detained 103 times for various alleged crimes has been arrested again for the 104th times.
Ali Shahid, aged 38, was arrested and brought to court on Wednesday, where the court ordered his detention for an additional 30 days. He was arrested for allegedly stealing a phone.
Despite the stolen phone being found in Ali's possession, he claimed that he had purchased the phone a week ago from a "cartel" involved in drug trafficking. The police checked the ownership of the phone, and it was confirmed to belong to a person working on a boat who reported losing the phone last Wednesday while it was left to be charged on the boat.
The court order stated that Ali Shahid from Alif Alif Thoddoo had been detained 103 times previously. He had been imprisoned 44 times for crimes such as theft from boats, and the police had detained him for various cases earlier this year as well.
