Later this month, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to journey to Dubai to participate in the 28th edition of the International Conference on Environment, COP-28. The announcement of his attendance was made last night at Hotel Jen during the celebration of the 52nd Union Day of the United Arab Emirates.

The COP summit is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 12 this year. President Muizzu, addressing the gathering, highlighted the significance of this year's COP meeting, especially for small island nations like the Maldives. He expressed optimism about utilizing the "loss and damage fund" and achieving positive outcomes in the inaugural "global stocktake."

Emphasizing the collective responsibility for ecosystem health, the President emphasized the importance of everyone's collaboration. He assured full support from the Maldives to the UAE for the success of COP28, commending the UAE presidency for its robust outcomes.

The COP Summit, an annual gathering of leaders, organizations, and business leaders, aims to foster collaboration in generating essential financial resources for emissions reduction, expanding adaptation efforts, and mitigating environmental impacts. Last year, the summit took place in Egypt.
