Champion Maldivian swimmers, Mohamed Aan Hussain and Hamna Ahmed, have set a total of records at the ongoing 20th National Shortcourse Championships in Hungary.
Aan broke national records in 50 meter freestyle, 100 meter freestyle, 200 meter freestyle, 50 meter butterfly, 50 meter backstroke and 100 meter individual medley events.
In the 100 meter individual medley event, Aan broke the record set by Mubal Azzam Ibrahim in this year's UNCLOUD Victorian Open. While Mubal finished the event in 1 minute 05.41 seconds, Aan finished in 1 minute 04.19 seconds.
Aan also broke three records set by Mohamed Rihan Shiham in this year's AOS Age Group Swimming Champions.
He broke his own record in the 100 meter freestyle event by finishing in 53.54 seconds.
Hamna also set two new records in Hungary. She first finished the 200 meter backstroke in 3 minutes 00.53 seconds and broke Aishath Shajina's 3 minute 08.91 second record set in the 2019 South Asian Games.
She then broke a previous record set by herself by finishing a race in 1 minute 22.65 seconds.
