President Solih meets ambassadors of Egypt, Pakistan

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met with the ambassadors of Egypt and Pakistan, at the President's Office on Sunday.

At the meeting with Egyptian Ambassador Hussain Al Saharty, President Solih spoke of enhancing bilateral relations between Maldives and Egypt in the areas of commerce and trade. He also thanked the Egyptian government's continued support towards Maldives in various avenues, in particular highlighting the 6,000 text books donated through the prestigious Al-Azhar University to Arabiyya School.

Ambassador Saharty hailed the island nation's efforts in regional development and assured that Egypt would cooperate to enhance ties in the fields of health, trade and commerce, counter-terrorism and maritime safety.

Pakistani Ambassador Vice Admiral Waseem Akram (Rtd) paid a farewell call on the president. President Solih thanked the ambassador and conveyed his gratitude to the government of Pakistan for supporting the development of Maldives in areas including education, health, social welfare and sports.

He highlighted the close longstanding relations between the two countries and expressed keenness to further enhance the strong ties in the future.
