The island nation is making gradual advancements in the medical sector; this was further confirmed when it was reported that the tertiary healthcare institution Tree Top Hospital successfully conducted an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery.

According to the hospital, the surgery was performed on a patient who has been diagnosed with a chronic heart condition.

Tree Top Hospital successfully conducted the ACL surgery on one Liane Glauser, 19, originally from Switzerland.

The hospital further confirmed that Ms. Liane was born with a congenital heart disease, which affects the oxygen intake compared to individuals without the condition.

Ms. Liane suffered a ligament injury during a football game, after which she had sought medical attention. Severe injuries to ligaments lead to long-term health repercussions which may include limps, chronic pains and other adverse effects.

The surgery was performed by Tree Top's in-house surgeon Dr. Kaningaraj Marimuthu.

Following the successful surgery, it was reported that Ms. Liane has made a speedy recovery.
