The government confirmed on Wednesday that Tree Top Hospital (TTH) has commenced treating patients found positive for COVID-19.
At approximately 1530 Wednesday evening, upon arrival to give birth, a pregnant patient was transferred from Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital to TTH in Hulhumale, where she is currently receiving treatment.
The mother-to-be was confirmed positive for the virus following standard testing conducted prior to delivery.
On April 26, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Tree Top Hospital, signed a three-month agreement for the provision of the hospital’s services and facilities to support the national Covid-19 response efforts.
Having been called to action, on May 3, TTH announced that with exception of limited ER Clinic services, the hospital would no longer be serving the general public.
The aforementioned ER services would be provided to existing and new patients from the Ophthalmology Building at the Hulhumalé Hospital, the use of which is granted exclusively to TTH by the government.
TTH's previously admitted in-patients were transferred to IGMH, where they are continuing to receive care.
In addition to TTH, the other facility allocated by the government specifically to treat patients found positive for COVID-19 is state-owned Dharumavantha Hospital in Male' City. Till now, patients were being admitted only to CH-11 facility located in Dharumavantha Hospital.
