Indian government offers 34 scholarships to Maldivians

The Government of India, under its Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) has offered 34 scholarship slots to Maldivians for 2024-2025 academic session.

The Government of India, under its Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) has offered 34 fully funded scholarship slots to Maldivians for 2024-2025 academic session.

Of these, 20 scholarships are for Undergraduate courses including Engineering under the Aid-to-Maldives Scholarship Scheme.

Of the remaining, 10 scholarships are under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee General Scholarship Scheme.

The last 4 scholarships are under Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme.

These scholarships are open to students who wish to pursue Undergraduate, Postgraduate and PhD courses in Arts, Science, Engineering, Business, Tourism and various other fields at multiple leading universities in India.

Besides these, there is also an offer of 100 scholarship slots globally under the Lata Mangeshkar Dance and Music Scholarship Scheme to students who wish to study Indian culture through either music, dance, theatre, performing arts, sculpture, Indian languages, Indian cuisine or other such areas.

There are a further 29 slots for South East Asian countries under the AYUSH Scholarship Scheme to participate in Undergraduate studies in the fields of Ayurveda and Homeopathy, Postgraduate studies in Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy and PhD in Ayurveda and Unani.

The Government of India clarifies that the scholarships do not include any five year integrated courses such as medical, paramedical or fashion studies.

Applicants for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years. PhD applications have an age cap of 45 years.

Interested applicants can apply through the ICCR's A2A Scholarship Portal on www.a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in before May 21, 2024. For further enquiries, applicants can contact the Indian Cultural Centre in Male' at 3306612 or 3306614.
