President Muizzu assured residents that 2025 and 2026 would be dedicated to fulfilling the promises made during his presidential campaign, which include the development of harbors, schools, sports facilities, waste management systems, and school repairs.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said today that work will begin on all projects outlined in his presidential pledges within the next two years.
During his visit to Thoddoo in Alifu Alifu and Kaafu atolls, he said that some projects had not started this year due to the budget passed by the previous government.
However, President Muizzu assured residents that 2025 and 2026 would be dedicated to fulfilling the promises made during his presidential campaign, which include the development of harbors, schools, sports facilities, waste management systems, and school repairs.
He said that no island would be discriminated against when providing services.
A budget of the MVR 56.6 billion has been passed by the parliament for next year on November 27. While the budget has been approved, specific details on the projects planned for islands have not been outlined in the budget. The 2025 budget is MVR 1.6 billion higher than this year's. With the inclusion of the supplementary budget, the budget for this year totals MVR 55 billion.
