Male' City Council is seeking a doctor and veterinary nurses to care for cats at a new facility in Hulhumale'.

The cat facility, which began construction in March this year, is nearing completion, with plans to start accepting cats next month.

The council announced yesterday that it requires one veterinarian and two veterinary nurses for the facility.

The salary for the veterinarian is set at MVR 35,000, while veterinary nurses will receive a salary of MVR 8,130.

Service allowance of MVR 100 per day worked and overtime pay at 35 of the salary will also be provided.

Required Duties:

- Provide veterinary services to those seeking assistance for their cats

- Assist the veterinarian with routine checkups, treatments, and operations- Administer medications, including feeding, injections, and other treatments as directed by the veterinarian

- Collect blood samples, conduct urine tests, and perform other diagnostic procedures

- Monitor and maintain anesthesia, providing necessary post-surgery care for the cats

The duties of the veterinary nurses also include providing nursing care, surgical and clinical assistance, emergency care for cats, communication and education outreach, as well as infection control.

The temporary cat facility, located on 5,000 square feet in Hulhumale' Farukolhufushi area, is being constructed to offer shelter and care for cats, protecting them from injuries and various diseases.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare has stated that the facility will provide a safe and clean environment for the cats.

Finishing work is currently underway at the facility.
