President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced that his government is actively working to harmonize and enhance the remuneration for employees within the aviation industry.

While speaking at a recent campaign rally at one of the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) hub, president Solih acknowledged the role of aviation industry professionals.

He commended the work and dedication by the industry's employees, and announced that efforts were currently underway to review their pay framework.

"Without further ado, pilots, aviation engineers, aircrew and others working in the industry will receive a remuneration increment," president Solih said.

President Solih also highlighted that his government upheld a non-discriminatory approach towards pay harmonization of all economic sectors and industries.

President Solih's decision to increase the salaries of aviation industry workers comes following his earlier announcement regarding the increment of remuneration and pay harmonization for all government agencies, which is set to take effect from January 2024.

Earlier, the government had increased remunerations of education and health sectors and civil servants under the government's pay harmonization policy.
