The Ministry of Education, on Wednesday, launched an online portal to oversee matters of school admissions and transfers.

According to the ministry, the portal's introduction was intended to make the process of school admissions and transfers more convenient for parents.

Prior to the facilitation of online form submission, guardians had to directly contact the ministry to enroll their children in school or transfer them.

In addition to the school admission and transfer form, the new portal can also be utilised to submit other relevant documents and complaints.

Parents can visit forms.moe.gov.mv or the education ministry's website in order to submit forms. According to the ministry, a mobile confirmation will be sent after the submission of forms through the online portal.

Ministry of Education reopened schools in the Greater Male' Region on October 4 following a temporary closure on August 9 in response to a second surge of COVID-19 cases.

Schools located in the region, the epicentre of Maldives' COVID-19 outbreak, only commenced teaching for grades nine to 12, while online lessons were provided for students of lower grades.
