Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has decided to temporarily move to Addu City to oversee and expedite the ongoing development projects in the city.
In response to a question posed by a member of parliament, Minister Aslam said the residents of Addu City are not happy with the way the road construction project is currently being carried out.
He said the residents are facing many problems because all the roads are being dug at the same time.
"I will be based in Addu City temporarily to solve these issues," he said.
Aslam will arrive in Addu City on Saturday. However, he did not specify when he would return to the capital.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited Addu City twice during the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP)'s presidential primary campaign. The President has assured that he will prioritise Addu City when implementing development projects.
