A lone robber on Tuesday evening, August 9, attempted to steal valuables from the main premises of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
However, reports confirm that the robber had been unsuccessful to steal anything significant.
MIRA on Wednesday, August 10, confirms that the robber was able to steal only a meager MVR25.
The authority further notified that the robber gained access into the building after breaking a small window at the back end of the premises.
The front access of the building is guarded by Maldives Police Service with officers rotated on duty at a 24-hour basis.
MIRA also reports the stolen amount had in fact belonged to one of its employees, who had left cash by their working counter.
The authority does not keep cash floats at the counters.
The lone robber's breaking and entering have been captured on the CCTV footage, confirms MIRA.
Police confirms investigating the matter.
