An accident occurred this afternoon on the Hulhumale' Highway, where a car crashed into the solar panels placed on the sides of the highway. No persons were injured in this accident.
A car that hit solar panels installed on the Hulhule’-Hulhumale' highway was damaged on Friday.
No one was injured in the road accident that took place this afternoon.
However, the car that hit the iron strapped with solar panels was badly damaged, in addition to the solar panels that also sustained damage. The front of the car appeared to be completely destroyed while large parts of the affected solar panels had collapsed.
The solar panels have been damaged in the past as well when out-of-control cars have previously crashed into them.
The current administration has decided to stop the World Bank-funded solar panel project on highways. Solar panels have been installed on both sides and in the middle of the highway as part of a project initiated by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
However, the present government has decided to shift the solar panels from there to another location.
