A tourist couple spending their vacation in Dhiffushi, Kaafu Atoll, drowned on Sunday.
Maldives Police Service confirmed that the two individuals, a 30-year-old female and a 29-year-old male, were from the Philippines.
The couple drowned while at sea in between Dhiffushi and Meeru Island Resort and Spa.
Police spokesperson revealed that the couple were spending their vacation in a guesthouse in Dhiffushi. The official further disclosed that they were pronounced dead on arrival when taken to Dhiffushi Health Centre.
No additional details about the incident have been revealed. The case is currently under investigation by Maldives Police Service.
