The Maldives’ national carrier Maldivian has commenced ticket sales for flights to the cities of Trivandrum and Chennai in India, Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, and Thai capital Bangkok from Gan International Airport in Addu atoll.

Return fares for Maldivian flights from the southernmost atoll of the Maldives to the four cities are:

Trivandrum – USD 286 (MVT 4,410)

Chennai – USD 328 (MVR 5,057)

Dhaka – USD 545 (MVR 8,403)

Bangkok – USD 492 (MVR 7,586)

An official of Maldivian stated that the waiting period for these flights at capital Male en route from Gan would be very short.

“We carefully considered the ticket fares and waiting times for flights between Gan and Male while determining these fares [to the four cities]. The final fares are much cheaper than the costs of purchasing separate tickets [from Gan to Male, and Male to the cities].”

The official added that Maldivian commenced the new operations due to popular demand for direct flights between Addu and the four cities.
