A 64 year old tourist from Belarus has passed away by drowning while on vacation at Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa in Vaavu atoll.
The incident occurred today while the woman was on holiday with a group of about 10 people.
She was taken to Vaavu Atoll Hospital in Felidhoo following the drowning, though it is unclear whether she passed away at the hospital or while being transferred there.
Her body is reportedly being transported to Male'.
This marks the third recent drowning involving tourists in the Maldives.
