The High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Maldives, Caron Rohsler has said that the recent travel advisory update issued by the United Kingdom is not specific to the Maldives. She added that the update is applicable globally, serving as a caution for British tourists traveling to various destinations around the globe.

The High Commissioner clarified that the information circulated by the local media regarding the travel advisory is inaccurate. In a tweet, she stated that the update to the travel advisory issued on June 22 applies to all countries worldwide, not just the Maldives.

"The change made does *not* specifically relate to the Maldives," clarified the High Commissioner.

The website of the UK government further states that the update to the travel advisory was issued due to the heightened global risk of terrorism.

No specific changes were made to the content regarding the Maldives in the travel advisory update. The Maldives continues to be listed among countries with a potential risk of terrorist attacks, particularly in areas frequented by tourists. This has been consistent in travel advisories issued by the UK, USA, and other countries for some time now.

According to the travel advisory update, British travelers are advised to exercise caution as there is risk of attacks on places and people of British interest in any country worldwide.
