October 2022 has set a new record for the most number of tourists visited. The Maldives, which is commemorating 50 years of tourism, has not experienced a record-breaking spike in visitors in a single month and is the most successful October to date.
Tourist arrivals for October 2022 was more than 153,600 which is an 8 percent increase when compared to 2019 till 2021.
Last year, Maldives saw 142,066 visitors arrive in October, compared to 141,928 travelers in 2019. According to arrival estimates from the Ministry of Tourism, 1.3 million visitors have visited the Maldives as of October 26, 2022.
By the end of 2022, the administration hopes to attract 1.6 million visitors to the Maldives, a goal that appears doable.
