Alan Greenberg, former director of education at the multinational giant Apple Education, has joined Hologo World, a company collaboratively founded by two Maldivian firms, Islanders Education and Pro Designers.

Hologo World is the mastermind behind "Hologo Education", an Augmented Reality (AR) based mobile and interactive educational platform which is marketed towards students, teachers and schools. An application that was developed by a team comprising entirely of Maldivians, Hologo was launched on April 23 this year at the BETT Middle East and Africa conference.

According to Hologo World's CEO Eedham Rasheed, Alan Greenberg who headed Apple Education during Steve Jobs' era as Apple's chief, is joining Hologo World as its director and chief strategist. Greenberg's main objective at the company is to ensure Hologo's international success.

A renowned education technologies consultant who also mentors and invests in tech start-ups, Greenberg had also invested in the Hologo app.

Eedham Rasheed stated that Apple AppStore had featured Hologo as a special product after its launch, where it rose to the rank of 37 in the Top 100.

"Downloads were close to 40,000 at the end of the first month," he said, revealing that Hologo was also gaining global traction, with most of the international downloads centered in the United States, United Kingdom, Nordic countries and Thailand.

With regards to Alan Greenberg coming on board Hologo World, Islanders Education's Executive Director Adhly Rasheed declared that Greenberg's investment in an entirely homegrown app, was a great validation and testimonial to the talent and potential of Maldivians. He stated that their wish was to see Hologo and other local apps continue growing on the international plane, without shifting to foreign hands.

"Our goal is to encourage more young Maldivians to enter this line of work, to join us, or invent and code their own apps," he said.

Hologo Education is the second application developed by Hologo World under its digital education initiative. Previously the company had successfully launched Teaching Tube in 2017, one of the largest online platforms for general high school, Cambridge, Edexcel, CBSE and ICSE educational resources.

Hologo World has also opened regional sales offices in Delaware, London, Riyadh and Colombo in addition to Male.
