Ministry of Tourism has announced that it intends to have Maldives host the ITB Berlin Fair in 2026.
Speaking at a press conference held yesterday to share details regarding the recently concluded ITB Fair of this year, Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal said that Maldives is the most liked tourist destination and as such, the country has aspirations to host the world's largest tourism fair in the near future.
"MMPRC's MD and the entire team will meet with stakeholders and hold discussions about the necessary preparations required to host the ITB Fair in Maldives in 2026," the Minister said.
The fair, which is held in Berlin, offers the option of hosting it to various countries. The latest fair was hosted by Oman.
Countries hosting the fair are given the opportunity to organize the opening ceremony of the fair, as well as several other events.
The last time Maldives served as the host of an ITB Fair was in 2016.
