A speedboat carrying 30 passengers from Malé City to Dhaalu Atoll Meedhoo submerged in the water after being hit by large waves.
According to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), its Coast Guard unit was dispatched to the location of the incident to assist the passengers and salvage the vessel. The speedboat was struck by large waves approximately seven nautical miles outside of Faafu atoll Feeali. The Coast Guard reported that all passengers were unharmed.
MNDF reported that the speedboat involved in the incident was attempting to enter Faafu atoll near Magoodhoo.
