Ruling coalition, People's National Congress and Progressive Party of Maldives has decided to host a special event in Male' City tonight sporting firework displays to celebrate their indisputable win in the parliamentary elections held yesterday.

PNC stated that a special event will be held tonight for the people to commemorate and express their gratitude for the win under the name, "Welcome - to the People's Nation's Majlis". The party explained that the event is scheduled to be held at 20:00 hrs tonight at the Artificial Beach.

All Maldivian citizens are invited to the ceremony and PNC declared that fireworks will also be set off at the event tonight.

The ruling party, PNC, had concluded the polling of the 20th parliamentary term held yesterday with the irrefutable achievement of super majority.

Interim results indicate that PNC candidates and government affiliated candidates had secured 71 seats in the elections thus far.

With the power to amend the constitution, the super majority or three fourth of the 20th parliamentary term consisting of 93 constituencies is 70 seats. Within the claimed constituencies of yesterday's election, government affiliated parties, Maldives National Party (MNP) had also secured a seat and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) had won 2 seats.

Some Independant candidates endorsed by PNC had also won the elections, allowing PNC to begin the next term of the parliament with an undeniable super majority.

Support for the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), who had secured 65 seats in the parliamentary elections of the 19th term has been subdued during this electoral scene. While MDP had secured only 12 seats in the parliamentary polls held yesterday, senior members who had served consecutive terms at the parliament had also failed to be elected.
