Three MPs from the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) have submitted their nomination to contend for the position of Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
Spokesperson of MDP PG Group, Velidhoo MP Mohamed Abdulla Shafeeq, told 'Mihaaru News' that Meedho MP Rozaina Adam, Horafushi MP Ahmed Saleem, and Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir have been nominated for the post.
From the three MP's, the party's Deputy Speaker candidate will be selected through a secret ballot during the PG meeting at 4 pm today.
The sitting to elect the new Deputy Speaker is scheduled for 8 pm tonight.
The Deputy Speaker's post fell vacant following the resignation of North Galolhu MP Eva Abdulla. Eva resigned after responding to the no confidence motion against her.
