A 33-year-old local man from a southern island has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing his 13-year-old stepdaughter.
A media official from the Maldives Police Service has stated that they received a report on April 12th regarding the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl on an island falling under the jurisdiction of the South Police Division. The suspect was arrested the following day.
The court has ordered a 30-day remand for the suspect to allow for further investigation into the case.
