A man has been arrested from a southern atoll on charges of sexual abuse of a person with disabilities.
A man has been arrested from a southern atoll on charges of sexual abuse of a person with disabilities.
The arrested individual is a 57 year old Maldivian man.
Police said that they had received reports of sexual abuse against a man with disabilities on April 14.
"As the victim of sexual abuse is a person with disabilities, as per the law, this case is being investigated as a sexual abuse case against a child," Police said.
They said that the court had placed the man in remand in custody until the end of trial.
