Mufawiz Hashim (Mufa), who served as an Executive Committee member during two terms under Football Association of Maldives (FAM) President Bassam Adeel Jaleel, has submitted his resignation from the association.

Mufawiz, who contested the presidency in the recently attempted elections on January 31, has confirmed his resignation from FAM's Executive Committee (Exco) to Mihaaru News.

In the wake of FAM's inability to form a committee to address the appeal lodged by former President of the association and Mahibadhoo MP Ahmed Thorig (Tom), who aimed to compete against Mufawiz in the elections, FIFA has mandated the reformation of the committees after the suspension of electoral activities.

FAM has reconstituted its committees this month, indicating efforts to move forward with the election process.

Mufawiz, who is also the CEO of Club Eagles said that his stance to contest the election would be clearer once once the elections are officially announced.

"I resigned due to personal reasons," Mufawiz said.

When questioned whether his resignation was related to any potential discord with Bassam, Mufawiz asserted that there was no differences between them.

Although Bassam is likely to contest in the upcoming FAM election, he did not provide a clear answer when questioned by journalists after the FAM Congress held this month.
