MNU to get international accreditation for tourism faculty

Maldives National University (MNU) announces it is working to gain international accreditation for its tourism faculty, confirms Deputy Chancellor Dr. Mohamed Shareef.

Speaking at the ceremony special walk held to commemorate Golden Jubilee of Maldives tourism, Dr. Shareef said the university aims to ensure its students in the hospitality fields receive internationally recognized certification. Shareef also emphasized the country's tourism industry is the largest economic sector, and the university is committed towards creating academically strong, trained local professionals for the hospitality industry.

During the special commemorative walk held t mark 50 years of tourism in the Maldives on Saturday, students who took part in the event were provided with information about the tourism industry. They were given information on the scope and professional opportunities available in the sector. Many tourism industry professionals had shared their experiences and given insight into the industry at the walk.

At the wrap-up of the walk, Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, while addressing the students, said the prospective future of tourism industry in the Maldives looked bright. He requested the younger generation to uphold the legacy of the hospitality sector, and sustain tourism for another 50 years.
