The Maldives has signed 10 agreements with the India under the High-Impact Community Development Projects. The projects are carried out through the grant extended by the Indian government.

The signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was graced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and the State Minister of India’s Ministry of External Affairs Vellavelly Muraleedharan. The agreements were signed by the State Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Haleel and the Indian Ambassador to the Maldives Munu Mahawar.

Project Details

- Outdoor gyms in Addu City Hithadhoo Beyrumathi and Rasgedhara constituencies, Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Vaadhoo and Haa Alifu atoll Dhihdhoo

- Procurement of four school buses for Fuvamulah and Kulhudhuffushi Cities, Noonu Kendhikulhudhoo and Laamu Gan

- Development of running track in Shaviyani Milandhoo

- Construction of new council office in Lhaviyani Hinnavaru

- Development of arts center in Malé

- Establishment of a mental health unit at Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo

- School Digitalization Program in Laamu Atoll Education Center

These projects will be financed through the USD 100 million line of credit provided by the Indian government in January under the High-Impact Community Projects agreement between the Maldives and India

In addition to signing the agreements, the Indian government had also handed over the Anti-Tuberculosis medicine to the Ministry of Health.

While India has signed 10 new agreements for community development projects in the Maldives, it is already involved in several other urban development projects across the country.
