STELCO plants over 30,000 trees across Maldives

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has revealed that the company has planted over 30,000 trees across Maldives under the tree planting program initiated by the government.

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has revealed that the company planted over 30,000 trees across the Maldives under the tree planting program initiated by the government.

The company has decided to plant 500,000 trees within five years to contribute to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's pledge to plant 5 million trees within his term.

STELCO first commenced their tree plantation initiative on June.

Meanwhile, statistics revealed by the company on Wednesday show that it has coordinated the planting of a total of 30,371 trees to date. This includes:

1. June 5: 21,007 trees planted in Kaafu atoll Thulusdhoo and other islands provides its services to

2. June 12: 1,000 trees planted during the ceremony to inaugurate the establishment of a new substation in Kaafu atoll Dhiffushi

3. August 24: 8,364 trees planted at a tree planting initiative held across islands the company provides services to

Planting 5 million trees to sustainably preserve natural habitats and enhance the Maldives' green environment is a presidential pledge aimed at increasing vigilance against threats posed by climate change.

The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy stated that over the next five years, the government will plant more than 90 varieties of trees across the Maldives. The Ministry also noted that these plants will be monitored and that carbon sequestration will be measured.
