Transportation safety board established to investigate incidents

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has established a dedicated board to strengthen transportation safety and investigate various incidents.

According to the President's Office, the "Maldives Transportation Safety Board" has been created to enhance safety and security in the transportation sector and to investigate various incidents and accidents that occur on land, sea, and domestic aviation transportation in Maldives.

Additionally, the board's responsibilities include providing advice and technical assistance to relevant authorities for implementing changes to land, sea, and domestic air transportation systems to improve safety and security.

The board will operate under the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.

Currently, aviation incidents are investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority, while issues related to maritime travel are handled by the Ministry.
