MVR 12.7 million has been distributed to individuals on the poverty list as Zakat al-Mal, according to statistics released by Maldives Zakat House last month.
The distribution of Zakat al-Mal began on September 13, with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs reporting the highest per capita distribution this year for the poor and needy.
