Aznif Mohamed, a recurrent offender previously apprehended multiple times for stealing mangoes across the city, faces another arrest related to the same offense.
In December, Aznif was caught attempting to flee with 200 mangoes, leading to his arrest. On Sunday night, the 34-year-old was arrested from the roof of H. Athirige, the former Indian High Commission building. He was attempting to steal mangoes.
Following the evidence of trespassing into a restricted area, Aznif was remanded to 15-day judicial custody. The court order highlighted his extensive history of arrests and detentions, primarily on charges of stealing mangoes.
By December, Aznif had been arrested 38 times and received 19 detentions for similar offenses.
