Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has said that the weakened Islamic brotherhood was saddening.
While officiating the special ceremony at the Islamic Center on Tuesday, October 17 to commemorate the date Maldives embraced Islam, the minister who is also the president of Adhaalath Party said Muslims across the world shared a bond stronger than blood.
Speaking about Israel's inhumane attacks on Palestine, Imran said it was deeply saddening to witness the weakened state of the Islamic brotherhood (Ummah) in today's age.
Imran argued this was due to the lack of faith and the lack of honesty towards the Islamic religion.
He stressed it was important to rekindle the integrity towards the faith, and think profoundly about the suffering of Muslims in Palestine, which is also the sacred ground of Masjid al-Aqsa.
The minister also said that Israel has dropped more bombs on Palestine within a week than the shelling on Afghanistan over a year during an earlier conflict, and added that the recent attacks by Israel have already claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 Palestinians.
Imran also said that if these attacks were instigated against our own people, we would not remain silent, and said that the Muslim brotherhood was akin to that of a human body in which the ailment in one organ is felt throughout the body.
He further noted that it was a responsibility of every Muslim towards the preservation of the Ummah.
Imran noted that the Muslim brotherhood currently exceeded two billion people. Adding that a large number of people are converting to Islam, he claimed that the general consensus among the youth adopting the religion is that Islam is a difficult faith to learn and practice but that, in reality, it is not hard to do.
The minister also highlighted the importance of carrying the Islamic faith forward from one generation to the other, and advised everyone to refrain from belittling others over their lack of Islamic knowledge.
