Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, has met with the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, on Tuesday, during the minister's diplomatic mission to the country.
Minister Shahid was joined by the Minister of Finance and Treasury Ibrahim Amir and the Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail, on the first diplomatic mission of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration.
Furthermore, during the official trip, Minister Shahid had met with Indian Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj on Monday, after which he tweeted expressing that he was "Deeply touched and encouraged by the warmth and generous spirit of discussions...".
Meanwhile, President Solih has earlier pledged to strengthen the weakened ties between the two nations post former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom's close relations with the Chinese throughout the course of his term at office.
Whilst Indian Prime Minister Modi had attended the inauguration ceremony of President Solih, the incumbent is set to visit India on his first official visit to a foreign nation since assuming office.
Minister Shahid is scheduled to depart to China on an official trip in the following month.
