President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says that he will make Thaa Atoll amongst the most developed countries within Maldives and put an end to their exclusion.

While speaking to the people of Kandoodhoo during his visit to the islands in the atoll, President Muizzu observed that Thaa atoll has never been more neglected in the development radar in the history of the land than in recent years.

He said that he will rectify this and ensure the atoll’s inclusivity within the line of development.

“God willing, we will provide the island with the opportunity to be considered in the front row of the line of development and ensure the islands in this atoll see development,” said the President.

He stressed that due to the economic downturn of the country, projects will be organized by priority. He ensured all development will be done with the PSIP projects distributed as required and managing finances.

Highlighting the development of Kandoodhoo, the president acknowledged that while the establishment of the island’s health center has been contracted, the delay in progression of the work as informed by the council has immensely inconvenienced the people.

“In order to achieve overall strengthening of the health services of the island, I will prioritize the health center project and deliberate with all concerned parties following the trip on expediting the process and concluding it efficiently,” the President promised.

True to his pledge of establishing laboratories in all islands of the country, he assured that the island of Kandoodhoo will see the establishment of the facility and the adequate number of people will be trained to operate it as well.

The president said that the island’s sewerage and port projects had stalled as a result of a debt accumulation of MVR 100 million due to impulsive spending by companies.

“With the approach of an election, many has postured similar developments while cutting corners. However, God willing, we are here to genuinely realize these projects,” said the president.

Acknowledging that Kandoodhoo is an agricultural island, the President declared that in order to assure the people’s wishes on the progress of their craft, the uninhabited island next to Kandoodhoo has been arranged to allow the people to broaden the scope of their work.

The president said that he will resolve the disappointment of the people of Kandoodhoo with all these developments.
