Emirates Airline announced major retrofit plans in the Dubai Airshow last week.

United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) national airline announced that they would retrofit 105 of its modern wide-body aircrafts with its Premium Economy product in addition to other cabin enhancements.

This retrofit program will be carried out over a period of 18 months in Emirates Engineering Center in Dubai. It is scheduled to begin at the end of 2022. The new developments include fitting 52 Emirates A380 and 53 Boeing 777’s fitted with their new cabin class; Premium Economy.

Each seat in Premium Economy is designed to provide optimal comfort and support with 6-way adjustable headrests, calf rests and footrests. They also offer a pitch of up to 40-inches, each seat is 19.5 inches wide and reclines 8 inches into a comfortable cradle position with ample room to stretch out.

President of Emirates Airline Sir Tim Clark said they were investing in this retrofitting programme to ensure they provide their customers’ needs well. He also said they have received a mostly positive response to the Premium Economy seats which was introduced over a year ago.

“Customers have been amazed by the quality and comfort. As Emirates has done with our signature First, Business and full-service Economy travel experiences, we intend to further develop our Premium Economy into a distinctive Emirates experience that is unmatched in the industry,” Sir Tim had said in a press release by Emirates Airlines.
