Yoga day conflict: Hearing cancelled after MP Mohamed Ismail fails to show up

The hearing of Vilimale' Constituency MP Mohamed Ismail who was arrested under charges of terrorism following the conflict incited at Galolhu National Stadium in protest of a yoga day activity in 2022 has been cancelled due to no show.

The hearing of Vilimale' Constituency MP Mohamed Ismail who was arrested under charges of terrorism following the conflict incited at Galolhu National Stadium in protest of a yoga day activity has been cancelled due to no show.

The prosecution had filed a lawsuit against 18 persons in connection to the events at Galolhu Football Stadium on May 2022 when an angry mob of protesters barged into the premise to interrupt an ongoing yoga session organized to commemorate International Yoga Day. MP Mohamed Ismail, aligned with ruling People's National Congress (PNC) was also arrested at the time under charges of engaging in an act of terrorism.
