Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, on Tuesday, strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Afghanistan's Kabul and Austria's Vienna.
Describing the attacks as "senseless" and "horrendous", the Foreign Minister extended condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated that Maldives' stands in solidarity with the two countries.
The shooting in Vienna, dubbed as an "islamist terror attack" by the country's interior minister, took place on Monday evening. According to Austrian police, at least one heavily armed attacker opened fire in the city centre, killing four people and injuring at least 14 more.
On the same day, three gunmen laid siege to Afghanistan's largest university, taking hostages and killing at least 19 people in addition to wounding 22 others.
Afghanistan's Interior Ministry confirmed that the three assailants were killed after Afghan security forces and American troops moved to root them out, ending the siege after six hours.
The terrorist attacks were condemned by various countries across the globe, with echoes of standing united in the fight against hate and violence.
