In their first match, Maldives defeated tournament hosts Bahrain with a score of 3-0, thanks to Layaan Mohamed Shamin and Aara Aasal Azim's impressive performances in the singles and doubles games.
Maldives secured a 2-1 victory against Macao in their second match, with an outstanding singles win. However, they faced a loss in the second singles match before triumphing in the doubles match.
Despite some setbacks, including a 2-1 loss to Laos and Saudi Arabia, the national women's team's participation in the Billie Jean King Cup marks significant progress in their tennis journey. The men's tournament, the Davis Cup, is set to commence in Bahrain on Tuesday, with Maldives also participating in Group 3 of the Asia Oceania Zone.
