Govt revenue at MVR4.99 bln in first quarter of 2018

Statistics released by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) shows that the state collected MVR4.99 billion from the institute in the first quarter of 2018.

The state’s tax regulatory body acquired a total of MVR4.99 million in the first quarter, which is an 18 percent increment from the value during the same period last year. The state earned USD 199 million, accounting to over 3 billion of the 4.99 billion collected in the first quarter.

The total revenue collected is a 9.5 percent increase from the estimated revenue for the first quarter. MIRA had credited the increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Tourism Goods and Services Tax (TGST), Withholding Tax, Green Tax and Land Rent for the increase in its total revenue.

MIRA estimates collection of MVR3.3 billion during the second quarter of 2018, which is an increase of four percent compared to the same period last year.
