Bank of Maldives (BML) on Monday announced the appointment of Aishath Samah as the new Director for Legal and Corporate Affairs.
According to the bank, Samah has over 13 years of experience with them. She has been working in the Legal and Corporate Affairs department and was the Company Secretary since 2009. Prior to this appointment, she was the Head of the Department.
Even with her new appointment, she will continue to be in the company Secretary position.
BML stated that Samah played an essential role in fulfilling the Bank’s corporate governance standards.
CEO and Managing Director Tim Sawyer said that he is delighted to welcome Samah to the executive team.
" It is rewarding to add a seasoned local professional to the leadership team in this new role, and I wish Samah the best of luck.”
In addition to this appointment, BML announced that Mariyam Hameed was assigned to the position of 'Bank's Chief Compliance Officer.' She was previously the Head of Centralized Services.
As per the bank, this role will aid in strengthening their commitment to meet international best practices in risk management.
Furthermore, changes brought to the organization structure was revealed as well. Under the bank's digitalization strategy, the cards and digital banking business was moved to the newly restructured Retail, Business and SME Banking Division.
