The first term's quarter break in schools have commenced after issuing report cards to students.
The 2023 academic calendar kicked off on August 6 at 216 schools across country inclusive of 84,200 students.
According to the academic calendar, following the quarter break of the first term of the 2023 academic year, schools will reopen on January 7, 2024.
The school sessions will resume in January with the national anthem.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated that this decision was aimed at fostering patriotic values and nationalism among students, encouraging them to grow up as nation-loving citizens.
The current administration had previously announced its decision to revert to the previous academic calendar, commencing schools in January, effective from 2025. However, the state has not provided details on how it aims to achieve this yet.
