Minister of Finance Mr. Ibrahim Ameer affirms inclusion of lecturers in the most recent change to the pay structure of educators.
The historic change had bumped up the remunerations of teachers, while the minister assured that this change will follow shortly becoming effective on lecturers as well.
Pay structure of teachers received the significant improvement on last Sunday, after 15 years of compounding complaints over the matter.
Meanwhile, several lecturers addressed their concerns over their 'exclusion' from the educators segment.
However, speaking with local media, the Minister of Finance assured that the ministry was currently reviewing changes to the remuneration structure of lecturers which will be announced soon.
Minister Mr. Ameer further claimed that relevant discussions were held with senior members of Maldives National University (MNU) towards the remuneration amendments.
Following the remarkable remuneration bumps for teachers, which had been a pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, several lecturers bemoaned claiming their apparent exclusion from the decision rendered them hopeless.
