President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed the four members who received parliamentary approval to the Tax Appeal Tribunal yesterday.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed the four members who received parliamentary approval to the Tax Appeal Tribunal yesterday.
Thirteen candidates had applied for the four positions. The names were referred to the Parliament's Judiciary Committee for consideration, and today, Parliament voted on each nomination individually.
The individuals who received parliamentary approval are:
- Abdul Ghani Mohamed
- Ibrahim Shareef
- Hassan Zuhair Mohamed
- Shifza Abdul Gayoom
Of these, Abdul Ghani was a former Judge at the Supreme Court.
Four posts of the Tax Appeal Tribunal with the exception of Ismail Saajid, had become vacant in August following their dismissal on parliament's recommendation for their removal.
