The government has decided to change the requirement for students appearing for O-level exams to take the four compulsory subjects, which will be covered by the government. Additionally, the government has opted to commence the new academic year from January in 2026, altering the current practice of beginning the academic year in the middle of the year.

With these changes underway, grade 8 students will take the O-level exam by the end of next year.

In recent years, local students have consistently achieved high results in O-level and A-level exams. The number of students ranking in the top 10 in the exams is on the rise, and they are also achieving more world-class rankings.
