Maldives introduces a digital vaccine passport that can identify whether a person have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said the vaccination dosage and the COVID test results can be seen on covidsafe.gov.mv portal.

This portal will ask for either the national identity card or passport number, and your phone number as well. Once an OTP is submitted, it can be accessed. To ensure privacy is protected, this portal can be accessed via the previous number provided by the individual to HPA.

The COVID status can be shared with other parties using a QR code. Other people can only gain access to this for a limited period of time. The vaccine card can be printed as well.

Prior to this, vaccine status can only be checked with the vaccine card provided by HPA. However people have been raising concerns that some countries do not accept this card.
